“明天就开始比赛了，我希望中国队拿很多金牌。但是我自己认为，可能我更愿意看到中国人民，普通的中国人在整个奥运会期间所表现出来的良好素质，表现出来对全世界这么多客人的友好、热情和我们的精神风貌，这是至关重要的。我觉得这是因为我们一下子从来没有来过这么多的外国人，这么多的媒体，几乎全世界各色人等全部来到北京。我觉得可能很多人没有来过中国，很多人也许可能就来这一次，我觉得中国是什么样，中国人是什么样，中国人带给我们什么印象，让我们感受到什么样的一种笑容，什么样的温暖，什么样的愉悦等等，我觉得这可能是我自己感觉似乎比金牌更重要。因为这恰巧是奥林匹克的精神，恰巧是人类共同的一种美好愿望。我们中国人说是百年圆梦，但是我们终于有一次能让全世界人民看一看我们中国人，不仅仅是看我们中国人的伟大、中国人的光辉灿烂的文明。还看看今天普通的中国人多么可爱，也看一看，其实世界很小，我们就是你们，我们是一家人，就是我们那个主题歌唱的，我和你在一起，心连心永远一家人，我更希望看到这样一个成功的奥运会。 ”
